Poor Ol’Blue

Last Monday I got a phone call at 5am from Kiel that ol’blue broke down…. so the kids and I loaded up and headed out to rescue daddy. Before Kiel came home I thought enough was enough.. and when Kiel came home he told me to get online and start looking for a new truck… we were on the same page. Finding the truck Kiel wanted was pretty easy… since there were only 2 in the valley that met his criteria. So that same day we went out and Kiel drove the truck, knew it was the one… and of course it’s blue. This is now our 5th blue truck since we’ve been married…. I guess we have a thing for blue. Kiel likes his new “er” truck, his mechanic fixed ol’blue and after Kiel switches over a couple of things from ol’blue to “new blue” he’ll probably sell it. But for now… this is what we have in our parking lot…

So for now we have 3 blue Diesel trucks that can pull Kiel’s huge trailer. I think we’re set!

4 Month Checkup

On Monday Curtis and I headed off to Dr. Leavitt for his 4 Month well check. Going along with tradition Kiel and I placed our bets on his weight… And once again we were TOTALLY off..

Here are Curtis’ stats:

Weight – 16.8lbs (80%)

Height – 24.5inches (35%)

Head Circumference – 16.25inches (25%)

compared to Connor and Chloe, he is our biggest by far. He is such a happy and healthy boy.. he must be doing something right…

Preschool Graduation

This year we have been so blessed to have such an amazing preschool teacher. Mrs. Newitt has been so sweet, patient and loving to our Connor. His growth has amazed us this year. He has grown up so much this past year and we couldn’t be more proud of Connor. Today at graduation Mrs. Newitt gave us all a Disc of pictures she took over the school year. So many great ones… here are a couple of my favorites :)

They sang us a couple of songs that they had learned over the year…. pretty cute!!!

We have loved Mrs. Newitt, she has lit Connor’s thirst for knowledge.. he has wanted to work on his letters and numbers every day (which normally I would have to bribe a little) and he now loves to color and draw. It’s fun to work with him more at home. He is very excited about going to kindergarten next year!!

Recovering

The past 4weeks have been all about keeping Kiel comfortable and getting him better. I don’t believe I have much to do with his rehab but I try to keep him comfortable while he is home. I am sure… well at least I hope he will miss all the extra “pampering” when he’s better. But over all I think Kiel is doing well. Depending on the day he might argue differently but so far his physical therapist and his surgeon have been happy with his recovery.

Last week was his 2 week postop appointment and the surgeon gave Kiel pictures of the surgery.. which I find fascinating (Erin, you might not want to look…) but before Kiel went into surgery the Doctor didn’t know how bad it was going to be until he was in and saw…but apparently it was pretty bad…. when the doctor came out of surgery to find me he said he did great but he did say that Kiel would need another surgery in a couple of months.. something he is not looking forward to.. : ( but he’ll do great. 

In other Wendelschafer news….

We’ll start off with Connor… He’s my sweetheart. This week is his last week of preschool… I will post pictures of his last day at the end of the week but he has loved preschool! He has the best teacher and great friends in his class. He has grown so much, each and every day Connor surprises us with how much he is learning. We are so proud of him! He is looking forward to kindergarten next year. One thing Connor has really been into lately is coloring… something he NEVER wanted to as a “fun” activity.. it was always work.. but now he really enjoys it. So here’s a couple of his Masterpieces.. kinda silly : ) But I love them!!

Miss Chloe……….. oh boy…

 

I mean, look at her… she’s our wild child… I can never take her too seriously.. she’s either frustrating me or making me laugh… silly girl. She has been just loving life.. She talks NON-Stop. She and Connor are best friends and they play so well together, they make a good team… for the most part.

 

Our Little Curtis… he’s still melts my heart. He’s just the sweetest baby ever. He’s getting so big though, it’s bitter sweet to me… I will miss having a baby but I am excited to see him running around chasing after Connor and Chloe. He has his 4 month check up next week so I will post his stats but he’s a big boy!! I think he’s bigger than Connor and Chloe were at his age.. but we’ll see.

Well that’s a little catching up… Sometimes I don’t feel like I have a grip on thing.. just too much going on and too many things to do but at the end of the day I try to have the kitchen clean and then it’s off to bed. Things aren’t perfect or easy but Kiel and I acknowledge how truly blessed we are. We have an amazing support system with our family and our ward, and of course with each other.

I always tell Kiel… it doesn’t matter if the world is crumbling around us as long as we have each other we can get through it. We defiantly have our challenges in this life but our relationship has always been easy… Kiel is my best friend and I am so lucky to have such a supportive, loving husband… so it’s been wonderful to pamper him a little more than usual with his surgery and everything. Love you babe.  And that’s s taste of what’s happening here in Arizona…

3 Months

Our little Curtis is now 3 Months old! He’s still our little sweetheart. He has Really enjoyed having Grandma and Grandpa around this week. He’s growing up too quickly. He sleeps great throughout the night, he rolls over and has started to laugh and giggle.. which just melts my heart.

This past weekend we had stake conference and with the help of Super Grandma and Grandpa I made it with the 3 kids and left Kiel at home in a quiet house. Something I would PAY for on certain days : ) But Sunday after church we drove down to see the progress of the Gilbert Temple. Our stake president talked about it a little during conference. The Angel Moroni should be going up in the next month or so. Our stake president said that this temple is the largest temple they have built since 1996. We are so lucky. It will be a gorgeous temple.

On Monday we found a great park and after the kids stuffed their faces (literally, love you Chloe..) they had fun playing. We love it when Grandma and Grandpa are in town.

Kiel’s Surgery

Kiel has dreaded this day for a very long time but the day finally came… Kiel’s knee surgery… dun dun dun…. Thanks to My Wonderful Mom we had a little more peace of mind.

Tuesday morning I went with my very nervous sweetheart to the hospital. I have always been the one in our relationship on the table and for the first time it was Kiel and I hated it. I would have traded places with him in a heartbeat… I am sure he felt the same way : ) We got checked in at the hospital and soon enough Kiel was swept away to prep for surgery. Shortly after they called me back so I could be with him. 2 long hours of waiting… and a couple of naps later….

 

The surgeon came in to prep Kiel. He apologized for running behind. The surgery before his took a very long time I guess… but he signed Kiel’s knee and he was off… my poor Kiel was now in surgery.

One cool thing about the hospital we were at is they gave me this buzzer pager thing … like the ones they give you at restaurants… but the surgery assistants send out pages to let you know what’s happening and how everything is going… so during the 2 hour surgery one of the messages I got was this…

After surgery the Doctor came to me and told me that the surgery went smoothly and that everything looked good.. he put my mind at ease. Next they brought me back and I was there while Kiel was recovering and coming out of anesthesia. I am so grateful I was there with him. Tuesday was a rough day for him… but we tried our best to spoil him and keep him comfortable. Wednesday he rested and just relaxed…

But Thursday it was back to work. And with his brother, Alan’s help and Mine… we all got the job done. It was the first time in a Very long time I went with Kiel all morning.. But once again I am so grateful my Mom was here to take care of our 3 monsters so I could take care of Kiel.

I find myself surrounded by such amazing people… Kiel for his strength and his courage. He takes such good care of our little family, for my parents for their willingness to help and being here to help in so many different ways. Sometimes just having my mom here to hold my hand is all I need. I truly do cherish every moment I have with my parents. We have learned how to be  good parents from them. And from that I Love being able to take care of my family. This week I have really enjoyed taking care of Kiel. I don’t get to spoil him in that way very often.

On Friday, Curtis and I drove Kiel to his first physical therapy session… and while Kiel was working out Curtis and I snuggled in the truck… I had to add this picture… I am just so in love with my Curtis he is my sweetheart angel. Those times I get to sit and hold him while he sleeps are the moments I feel My Heavenly Father’s love the most. It’s in those brief moments I can feel how much my Heavenly Father must love me… just the way I love all my babies and my family.

Well it’s been a long and tiresome week but we are on the road to recovery. Thank you to everyone that have offered up their prayers on Kiel’s behalf. In the hospital we both felt that comforting, peaceful feeling that only the Holy Ghost offers. Thank you. 

Happy Easter

This Easter season has kicked started just like ones in the past with our Annual Neely Ward Easter Egg Hunt. This year wasn’t any different from any other… I had to stop Chloe a couple of times from grabbing eggs early… She thinks she is sooo sneaky. And then after all the eggs were picked up she decided to cross the line and start picking up eggs in the “big kid” side. Goodness… that girl….. After they said “GO” I didn’t see Connor again… he was super fast and Chloe and I didn’t even try to keep up. We caught up after and I was surprised how many eggs he picked up… I think once again it was a successful Hunt. We had a good time. Next year Curtis will be out there adding to the Wendelschafer haul. 

As you can see my Monster Chloe totally “ate it” the day before playing outside in our front yard, riding one her toys down our driveway… She’s fearless…

it was a beautiful day… we have to enjoy the 80 degree weather while we have it…. ooh.. that’s a depressing statement : ( oh well.. Bring on Summer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Before heading to the park.. Curtis was laughing so sweet but I only caught the tail end of it.. but I thought I would share.. he makes me smile.

Chloe loves Curtis.. but I am not sure Curtis has completely warmed up to her quite yet…. he kinda flinches when she comes close… (it’s alright… I do too )

Today we did a little Easter Egg Dying… something I haven’t done in a very long time. It was fun and the kids loved mixing the colors and making new colors.
