This past week

This past week has been a fun one... Connor and I came up with some fun things to do around the house... our first.... I finally got around to creating these pine cone bird feeders!!! Connor loved the bird seed... so much in fact he had to try it for himself:) The Birds loved it!!

Last night was our ward's Adult Game night and we had a pot lock of appetizers and desserts... so since I am not an amazing baker I made cupcakes and decorated them like these cute flowers.. got the idea from a magazine... fun!

Connor loves to paint... but we have to go shirtless!! Before this shot he had a nice streak of paint on his chest and paint in his ear!! He loved his $2 donkey!!

Needless to say... we had a pretty good week!

Tax Time

Each Year Kiel gives me the task of putting together all the numbers of all our medical expenses for the past year. Due to my organizational (OCD a little) skills.. I was able to put together all the numbers within a half hour!! Impressive... I know:) It always amazes Kiel and I how much we spend on Health care premiums, doctor's bills, hospitals etc.... The grand total this year................ approx. $18,000. To be honest it gives me the sickest feeling knowing that we had to spend that much to keep our family healthy. But on the other hand it's a blessing to live in a country were I have the right to CHOOSE what doctor's we want, the insurance we want and the coverage we need. Because Kiel is self employed it has opened my eyes to how these things work. Even though I frustrated dealing with insurance companies to do what they are supposed to and shopping around to get the best deal, I love having control over our family's insurance. Our country's Health Care system is not as broken as "They" think it is... a little friendly company competition with it's prices and coverage would go a long way!

Trucks and More...

It's Thursday... and I finally feel like I can sit down and get some things done.. It's been a hectic week. Last weekend was Super Bowl of course... and for Kiel that means a Busy Busy weekend of work. A couple of weeks ago Kiel had the idea of going big this year to help promote some of Sara Lee's new products. He decided to hire 2 girls that work for GoDaddy.com to help sell his bread. I have to admit I wasn't fully on board at first... come'on who wants to be hassled at the Grocery store. I feel like I can't even walk 5 feet in the mall without someone saying.. "Hey Miss...." Yikes. I hate salesmen.. anywho.... The more hype Kiel got the bigger the even became. Kiel teamed up with FritoLay who actually donated this little Grill to Raffle off.... (I made the poster and box... yeah yeah I know.. AMAZING! ha) Because Kiel has such a good relationship with his Fry's they allowed him to have a recorded amount of displays in the store... and plus they moved his big display (with the girls) from the back to the front... so needless to say The Girls were right up Front! They were sweet girls and they really did a great job. They handed out coupons to the buns that were already on sale and had a lot of people into the new products. It was a success.. Kiel's event was actually told to one of the executives at Sara Lee and he told Kiel that the company would reimburse him at least 50% of his marketing expenses. That was pretty huge.. considering it being Sara Lee. They were all impressed that Kiel was going the extra mile. They said no one had ever done something like that. So Kiel was a Happy Guy!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
But as Kiel's luck would have it... it was also a VERY stressful weekend. Saturday while driving from one store to another... Kiel's truck just completely stopped.. In the middle of the road!!! He called and asked if I could get a number to a towing company to help him out. But as normal Kiel's awesome brothers came to the rescue!! It was amazing timing... When Kiel broke down both his brothers Sean and Marc had just finished with work and came quickly to help. Sean was able to tow Kiel's truck to a near by parking lot and hitched Kiel's trailer up to his truck and the 3 of them finished running his route. It makes me feel so blessed to live close to Kiel's family. They are always there for each other..... But the storm wasn't over quite yet... Kiel had a mechanic come out to check out his truck on Sunday... he couldn't figure out the problem right there.. so he said he needed another day... Sean... the awesome brother that he is told Kiel he could his truck for Monday. Thank you Sean!!! (to tell the story quickly..) 2Am Monday morning Kiel texts me... "Babe the truck is fixed and the mechanic is going to drop off the truck right now." (His mechanic was so amazing!!) So I heard the truck out front... and he was off. Awesome I thought... 5Am... Chloe wakes up as usual.. While feeding her I look at my phone. It was on Vibrate and I had 3 messages. All from Kiel telling me that Sean's truck had broken down on him and he needed my help to switch trucks. I didn't get to it in time so the mechanic Friend came back out 5AM!!! and helped Kiel switch trucks!. So things stand.... Kiel's truck is fixed and working... good "old Blue" and Sean's truck is still struggling.... We love you Sean!!! As my Mom says, "At the Wendelschafer Home... When it rains it Pours!!" The END!

Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was a busy one. We had 3 Birthdays to celebrate around here. Happy Birthday to Grandpa Miller too!! On Saturday we had a double Birthday for Cousins Caleb and Cori!
Caleb Had a Waffle party in the morning. He turned 3 this year!
Connor stole the first present that was opened and went behind the couch to try to open it! He's a sneaky one!!
Cori and Connor once they finally got it opened.
Miss Chloe on her cousins' zebra bouncy thing.. She loved it but kept slipping off.

Next was Sunday... Kiel's Birthday. I wonder who's under those balloons???

All Kiel said he wanted for his Birthday was for me to make and EAT salmon. (FYI: I hate all fish!) So there it is... Marinated in an Asian glaze... Fresh baked Salmon!! it was ok....

Happy Birthday!! With the Superbowl around the corner..I thought a Football shaped Ice Cream Cake was appropriate.

Connor and Chloe diving in for the first bites!

And for a Goofy picture..... We think Chloe has Conan O'Brien hair sometimes:)

In other news... I have been looking for jobs lately...
just to see what was out there and I had
2 interviews yesterday.
I was offered a job at a salon close by... but
after really giving it a lot of thought I don't think I would
be happy there.. Just didn't feel right.
But my 2nd interview yesterday was for a stylist position at the
Ulta right near my house. I didn't approach it seriously... more curious
if anything but sitting with the manager who was super sweet
and down to earth an old friend of mine, from school walks in and was surprised
to see me. Immediately my out looked changed. After a great interview
I caught up with my friend and she told me how happy she was
there and how well Ulta takes care of their staff.
It just seems like in this economy... It would be a safe bet to work
for a larger company. Ulta has the means to advertise and market themselves and offer further education without hassle.
So next week I have a model all lined up to "show off" My skills! We'll see how it goes!! Wish me luck!
