I have very much enjoyed being back in a Salon and working. Having my mom here was such a boost of confidence. Since she left I have done 2 perms in the salon and getting a little bit quicker. They both turned out beautiful and the women were very happy. And Since I am the only one willing to do them I’m the official perm girl. Hey I’ll take whatever I can get. Not having a clientele here I’ve had some slow days.. but it’s great whenever I can be in the salon to pick up walk-ins or calls that want to come in. I’ve only been there for 3 weeks and I’m starting to get busier. It’s nice. I hate sitting around not having anything to do but I haven’t had too many days when I’m sitting around twiddling my thumbs. I am always wandering around trying to help the other stylists (who I am learning to love and respect, they have been such a support and help to me), and learning as much as I can. I am working on getting my esthetics license renewed up here so then I can start doing facials and full body waxing's. Alaska laws are a little different than Arizona so I have to cater my licenses to them… grr… but its alright. It’s been exciting and every day I get to go into work I look forward to it and leave feeling good. its been amazing to me how quickly my hands remember how to do things I haven’t done in years. Before a client comes in I always run through each step to prepare but when it comes to certain things my mind just goes into autopilot and I start doing something I haven’t done in years and it takes me by surprise. I wouldn’t say I have the best memory but in the salon things have just come back to me organically. I have found a great salon with a great reputation and great clientele. I am starting to like this small town feel again. It’s been a long time. Right now I am working 3 days a week, 2 while Kiel watches the kids and then the 3rd day, my girlfriend watches Chloe and Curtis and then I am home by the time Connor gets home from school. I love that in a salon I can make my own hours and they are happy whenever I can be there.
