Cranky Computer

I have to share this… just because. We don’t always turn off our computer, we just turn off the screen (I know… I know..). Anyways. I turned off the computer Wednesday night because I knew that the power to the house was going to be shut off for a few hours in the morning due to testing in the area. Later Thursday afternoon I went to turn the computer on and… Nothing. It wouldn’t power up, no noise, no fan.. nothing. I was a little frustrated. This computer is a little over a year old.. so I was surprised to have a problem.

I did everything I could think of to get it to work. I unplugged everything, tried a different outlet, tried a different power cord… I did a million different things to get it to boot up. Nothing. Now, for people that know me.. I am not the most patient person. I want it fixed now! So I asked a friend if he would come take a look but he couldn’t until Saturday… ugh… Last night I called the HP support Hotline.. and talked to some random tech that I couldn’t even understand due to his Thick accent… since it’s over a year old.. no warranty…. I was sooo close to just paying the money to have a stupid conversation with the dude but I didn’t. I had a feeling not too…

Then this afternoon my grandpa miller calls me to talk about the computer. I am walking down the stairs explaining the problems… I walk around the corner and Kiel just calmly states, “it turned on.”…………uh, What do you mean “it turned on?” I said. He smugly said… I just unplugged it for a minute, waited then plugged it in and pushed the power button…. As grandpa laughed in my ear… I restrained myself (oh Kiel you were lucky Grandpa was on the phone)… I couldn’t believe it. I have been doing that for almost 2 days and it magically works for you???? Ugh.

In conclusion... I think our computer prefers Kiel more than me. The end.

Father’s Day and Buzz in 3D

I am a little behind… Let me start with Father’s Day. Sunday was a great day. We started off by helping Daddy open presents in bed… then a Quick breakfast, due to 8:30 church. I volunteered to sub in nursery before hand so when I arrived they were very short-handed so I volunteered Kiel to come help as well.. He was a great sport, he’s always so great with kids. I think Chloe enjoyed it most of all!!! After church, as a team effort Kiel and I successfully got Connor and Chloe to go down for naps at the same time which allowed Kiel and I to………… Do the same!!! Hooray for naptime! Get your minds out of the gutter:) In the afternoon we went over to Kiel’s oldest brother’s (Sean) house for a Father’s day dinner. We brought this Father’s day cake. The lady that is doing the kids’ birthday cake make this for me… It was a hit! It was nice spending time with Kiel’s dad and allow Kiel, Sean and his dad to bask in their day! It was a very nice father’s day!!!DSCN1221 In other events… on Tuesday we took Connor to go see the most anticipated Toy Story 3… and we were brave and took him to see it in 3D! I don’t know if he really got the 3D thing… but he kept his glasses on and loved it!!! I mean who wouldn’t? It was really a great movie and it makes me even more excited about their Toy Story themed joint Birthday party next month!!! “To infinity and beyond!”imagestn toystory

Tuesday Movies

We signed up for the Summer Movie Program… We paid $7 for 10 movies throughout the summer. DSCN1186(The first 2 tickets are gone.. They were Charlotte's Web.. didn’t make it through and Shrek the 3rd)

So for $14 (Connor and I) We will be able to see 10 movies on Tuesday mornings at 9:45. It’s our little date. Today was our 3rd week. We saw Ice Age for the first time today… with a movie we’ve never seen before I always expect to leave a little early but with Ice Age Connor was totally into it! It was the 2nd one I think… called the Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Connor is obsessed with the dinosaur book I bought him a couple weeks ago called.. Dinosaurs Love Underpants.. so we have been all about the dinosaurs lately. Anyways… It’s been a fun activity.DSCN1190 This morning we got there a little early, usually I skip the concession… due to it being 8:30 in the MORNING, plus we just ate breakfast and each line having 100 people in it! but today we got there a little early and there weren’t any lines so we decided on a small popcorn to share. SURPRISINGLY enough Chloe likes popcorn…I know, right?? Never would have predicted that one:) Chloe usually lasts the first half of the movie, then falls asleep in my arms. So it’s fun. Connor likes our movie mornings. Plus he is getting really good in theatre. He’s gone to see a lot of movies already this summer and he enjoys every one of them! We are getting ready for Toy Story 3 next week!!!! We know he’ll go crazy!!!! DSCN1192

A Hairy Enrichment

Last Thursday night the Relief Society was brave enough to ask me to teach a mini class on how to cut simple Boy and Girl haircuts… I set up shop and thought I would just “wing it”. It went pretty well. Everyone told me they enjoyed it and they took something away from it, but I will always think back and think of how I could have made it better. For each of the 2 classes I taught… I had 30 minutes… which really ended up being over 45 each, I had 2 male models and 1 female. I did simple fade haircuts for the boys.. I did one Faux hair cut and for the girl I did a cute little bob and bangs. I didn’t think I would be so comfortable teaching my craft but it went pretty smoothly. For my last class I did the 2 boys… and then I thought I was going to do a one level simple hair cut on my female model but one of the ladies in the ward convinced both me and my model to cut her hair an A-line, stacked hair cut. Well with 10 minutes…… uh…… I said to my friend.. Amanda that’s at least a 45 minute haircut… and you want me to teach you it all in 10 minutes? Ok… Needless to say we didn’t get home until 9:30. But the neat part was I went over to Amanda’s house the next day and walked her through that same haircut on her adorable daughter so it was all well worth it! It was a fun night. As I told the ladies in the ward, even if you don’t have too.. it’s worth it to know how to give your children haircuts… And I didn’t mind teaching them.DSCN1179 I laid out my new business cards on the table and told them all to take one if they had any questions. Well today in church I was ambushed!!! I have a full load this week with clients. I am so grateful for such a wonderful, supportive ward. Speaking of……

Right before I left for the church DSCN1180Thursday night I came down stairs all ready to go… All dressed in black, my hair curled, my eye makeup was a little heavy and I had a fun strip of Pink in my hair… I thought I would look like a stylist for my class… well when I came downstairs Chloe was just waking up from a nap. Kiel brought her into the kitchen where I was getting all of my stuff ready. She did a double look at me and started to cry. She wouldn’t let me go near her without freaking out! I scared my baby girl. Oh well the show has to go on. We packed up and said good bye to Kiel. The kids had fun in the nursery until Chloe got a little cranky.. Sister Robinson (a great friend) took Chloe outside and rocked her to sleep. Chloe took a nap like this for almost 45 minutes! Chloe is such a little snuggler! Chloe is her biggest fan!! Thanks Laura! It turned out to be a great night.
