Connor's 1st Birthday

One year ago I remember laying on a table scared that my new baby wasn't going to be ok... But this year things are very different. Connor is a very healthy, strong, cute little boy...
This is Connor and his Cousin Tyson.

Connor didn't really like wearing his hat but we distracted him pretty well!

We had a pool party at Connor's grandma Theresa's house and had a bbq. It was a good day.. Just wanted to share...
Taylor and Cori helped Connor open his presents.

New Hobby

Kiel has really gotten into golfing with his friend Reggie and so... of course... I eventually started practicing with Kiel in the backyard and it's kinda fun... Last night all 3 of us went out to the driving range and hit some balls... I was kinda good.. well for it being my first attempt.. So today Kiel went out and got me my own set of golf clubs... nothing to official. just for fun!!! I'm excited but I won't play during the day like them... I'll wait until it cools down!!! I'm a fair weathered golfer!!! :) But I was surprised how fun it is.... We're planning on playing a round of golf in San Diego.. That'll be fun.
These are Connor's clubs that Reggie bought him for his 1st Birthday!!!

Carsten Institute

I'm thinking about going back to my old school Carsten Institute and becoming an instructor. To do so, I would have to train (basically it's going back to school) for 650 more hours... which is like 5 months full-time... but this time I would be paid to train. Then I would take yet Another state board test and become licensed as an instructor. After that point I would have to uphold my 2 year contract and work there at Carsten's. If I broke that contract I would have to pay them back the amount it cost for their schooling ($6,800). But.. I would get benefits (HealthInsurance!!!) and I would be furthing my education and career. It's kind of exciting but I would need to put Connor in some sort of Day Care in the mornings until Kiel was finished. It's a tough decision but I think if we found a really good place Connor would enjoy it.. He loves being around other kids and playing. Anyways.. we're still thinking about it......

Living without AC

Once again our Air Conditioning Unit has slowly frozen up... The leak we knew was there when we moved into the house has gotten worse and worse. We've refill the freon 3 times already. So we've gone an entire weekend with little to no AC. Hopefully when the guy comes out today he'll just recommend an entirely new unit and then our homeowners' insurance will cover it!!! We'll see. Blah to living in Arizona!!!

Healing quickly!!

Today, Connor and I went swimming and then took a bath so I didn't put his splint back on. By the time we went to the doctor's office Connor was walking around without his splint just fine. The doctor told us that yes his leg is broken, but if he isn't in pain and isn't "babying" his leg then it will heal on it's own without a cast or a splint. So he's going to be just fine. Thank goodness. He said that babies heal really quickly. So we're counting our blessings and moving on. Hopefully we won't need anymore doctor's visits!!! Ah... boys.. Oh well he's worth it!

~Connor's Heart~

An update on Connor's heart.... We had our 6th month appointment today... The doctor did an ultrasound (which Connor sat surprisely still for) and he said of the last 2 holes that were there last visit one of them closed but the one between the upper right and left chambers is still there but smaller. He sounded very happy and he assured me that there is nothing to worry about. He gave us a hug and we made another appointment for 6 months and we were out of there. He's a nice guy but it's all good news for my little Bubba. Tomorrow we're off to the orthopedic surgeon... One thing after another.... He's trouble!!!!

Kisses!

Connor officially started giving kisses!!! So far it's just to me... (I feel kinda lucky) but they are definite kisses... open mouth/slobbery ones but cute... He smiles and giggles after. He makes me smile.

Paying it forward

Kiel and I had a very interesting thing happen tonight. We decided to go out to eat for dinner. We went to Oregano's down the street. We waited for about a half hour for a table, we sat down and ordered our meals, then we decided to order their delicious cookie/ice cream desert. When the waitress handed us our desert she told us that our check was already taken care of. We were shocked and questioned her, on who paid for our bill? She told us that is was supposed to be anonymous but after persuasion she told us it was paid for by a couple sitting at the bar. As I leaned slightly over I saw this couple.. I didn't know who they were. Kiel didn't know who they were. I again questioned the waitress, are you sure? is this the right table? Why? She said yes...yes...("they said you looked like a nice family") and She didn't know why.. she suggested maybe it's a way to "pay it forward." We didn't even see the couple eat a meal. They just sat at the bar sipping on their drinks. Maybe they were there on a mission to pick out a couple and make their night. Maybe they saw little Connor's cast :( and felt bad.. I don't know.... Kiel and I left the restaurant thinking about what had happened, and what we can do to continue the cycle. Just thought I would share our experience. It's something to think about!!

Broken Leg!!

Sunday afternoon Connor took a fall. He followed Kiel to the door and stood up and when Kiel came back in Connor fell. I didn't think it was that bad but today he still wasn't putting any weight on it so we had it checked out.. Yup.. it's broken. 11 months old and a broken foot... That's pretty good!! We might have to put a cast on but we'll find out next Tuesday. He definatly has Miller in him!
